FZI Spring Festival

The time had come again last week: the FZI Spring Festival took place in Berlin! Just ahead of the European elections, the focus was on social polarization. The discussion was based on the research findings from our “Social Sentiment in Times of Crises” (SOSEC) project.

The discussion was moderated by Jonas Fegert (FZI/HoP), Christof Weinhardt of the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT)/FZI, Hendrik Lehmann from the Tagesspiegel Innovation Lab, CORRECTIV‘s Uschi Jonas, and Silke Muelherr of the Alfred Landecker Foundation which is funding SOSEC.

During the discussion, possible solutions for the often difficult to bear political reality were discussed. The role of science in times of crisis and the characterization of polarization were also addressed. The boundaries between research and political consulting as well as the adequate processing of research results by journalism were also discussed.

You can read some of the exciting research results on SOSEC in the current article published in the Tagesspiegel.
